As one of the few employees (and maybe the only!) that bikes to the office and the biggest utilizer of our office fitness center, Russ is always on the go! However, he carved out some time to share a little about himself and some of his favorite projects as we celebrate his anniversary!
What is your biggest software success? A prior supervisor laughed at me because of some client requests were so far off the beaten path. One was a project that advanced the policy dates about a month before the policy processed the renewal offer and issued the doc. Another was a process that would programmatically endorse a policy to add a form. I did this several times; the largest endorsed 125,000+ policies. The last project that comes to mind is a claims modification that would process the data-collect transactions and populate the master files when requested by the user during the day instead of during the normal nightly cycle. We did not end up doing it, but I figured out an elegant technical solution.
Hobbies/pets/fun fact that not many people know? 2 cats: Binky and Blossom; 2 dogs: Frankie and Bear. My hobby is fixing the stuff they destroy, like re-wiring the wheel sensors on all three vehicles because they chewed them up.
One thing you can’t resist? Chocolate is my drug of choice
What music is on your iPhone/Android phone? I like to listen to my YoYo Ma station while I work, but I try to switch things up. I like sound travels & after 9 on 88.9. I don’t like pop or anything with a harmonizer.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Purple
What books are at your bedside? I am reading: A Life on Our Planet by David Attenborough
Where is your hometown? Sheboygan
Thanks so much for spending close to two decades with ASI, Russ! Can’t wait to see you back in the office and say “Hi” to Frankie and Bear next time you bring them by!
